Born in Kentucky proud to be a Veteran shirt

Clearly veterans did not enjoy the same social standing Born in Kentucky proud to be a Veteran shirt that their counterparts would have had in, say, Britain and the United States. For all that, they were not seen as Nazis (as Christopher Gerald quite wrongly suggests), but just as participants in something that should never have happened; many of them would have seen themselves that way. But as the West German state developed, some care was taken to argue that the soldiers and officers of the Wehrmacht (with some exceptions of course) deserved recognition for their sacrifices, and there were veterans’ associations and similar bodies (now largely defunct). What do you want them to say, yes?
